Limited Seats for the 2016-2017 School Year at New Roots

Less than ten seats remain in the freshman class at New Roots Charter School for the 2016-2017 school year, according to Rebecca Cutter, Community Learning and Outreach Coordinator.  New enrollment applications are up by 17% compared to a year ago, and the school anticipates a freshman waiting list by September based on enrollment trends over the past five years.

 

“Now in our eighth year, we are seeing strong demand for our truly unique small downtown public high school,” said Cutter.

For hundreds of millions of years, Earth has supported life, and life has in turn influenced the Earth. Changes in the Earth’s climate (over hundreds of millions of years) have resulted in the evolution of life to survive, while such adjustments by life have influenced the dynamics on Earth. Our modern lifestyle has introduced rapid changes to our environment, disrupting the equilibrium that had existed long before. The Haudenosaunee knew how to exist in balance with this equilibrium, and modern society can learn a lot from the knowledge they held.

The Learning Web is recruiting new intakes for 2016 who would be interested in exploring their interests and finding a volunteer apprenticeship. Whatever your interests are we will work to find a mentor that can provide hands on experience in your field of interest. Within the cozy confines of Sacred Root Kava Bar, there will be an open mic where anyone and everyone can read their writing, and we will wrap up the evening with a poetry slam.

New Roots Now Enrolling for the 2016-2017 School Year

New Roots Charter School is celebrating the start of enrollment season for the 2016-2017 school year with an Open House this Saturday, March 5 from 1 - 3 p.m.

Seats are limited to 40 per grade level in our tuition-free regional public high school, with many already reserved for returning students in grades 10 through 12.  Families are encouraged to enroll now to secure their seat for September 2016.

Alumni Homecoming - January 2016

What a homecoming!  Now in our seventh year, we have four classes of alumni, and many of them have been stopping by to visit during the winter college break.

Last week, alumni returned to share their college experiences during an all school assembly and an after school event focused on New Roots alumni in science and mathematics fields.  

Ezra Davis (‘13), Korin Carpenter (‘12), and Hannah Watrobski (‘13) presented at the evening event.
