Transportation to New Roots

If your district of residence is within 15 miles of New Roots, you can request transportation through your district transportation office. Per NYS Charter Law, requests must be submitted to the district transportation office by a parent/guardian before April 1 for the following school year. See “pertinent links” for regional districts below.

If your district of residence is NOT within 15 miles of New Roots, or if you prefer public transportation, Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Way2Go program helps navigate transportation solutions in Tompkins County. For a visual display of their solutions or to contact Way2Go directly click here: Way2Go Transportation Options Brochure

Anyone who is 17 years and younger (or older if still enrolled in high school) can ride TCAT buses for free using their FreeRyde program. Everyone aged 13 and younger can ride for free, and they do not need to sign up for the program. For more information, please check out the FreeRyde webpage.
