ABOUT NICOLE SLY

Science (HS)

Nicole has worked at New Roots for three years as a high school science teacher, teaching everything from environmental science to chemistry. Additionally, she leads student activities such as the Ski & Ride Club, Crew Olympics, and more! She is passionate about connecting the sciences to real world problems that students can connect with. Nicole was drawn to New Roots by its environmental mission and commitment to progressive pedagogical techniques. She believes it is an innovative and exciting academic setting.

Nicole came to Ithaca from Boston, Massachusetts where she worked in independent schools. Before that, she formed a background in curriculum development through the Curriculum & Teaching program at Teachers College, Columbia University. In her free time, Nicole is a crafter, clothing designer, reader, gamer, and hiker.
