Middle School Humanities Teacher
Hi everyone! My name is Liz Purcell, and I am so excited to work with you all this year. I was born and raised in the Syracuse, NY area, where I first gained my love for leadership and teaching. I went to Wells College in Aurora, NY, where I received a bachelor’s degree in history with concentrations in psychology and adolescent education. While at Wells, I had extensive experience in leadership and activism rooted in social reform, curriculum/program design, and sustainability. I am currently pursuing an MSEd in Literacy Education (B-12) from Oswego State University and additional certification opportunities to continue my love for lifelong learning. Naturally, I gravitated back to Cayuga Lake after my undergraduate work to be a part of the beautiful Ithaca community and wonderful team here at New Roots. Outside the classroom, you might find me cheering on the Buffalo Bills, watching the sunsets over the lake, and spending time with my two dogs, River and Rocket. I am excited for the opportunity to make connections, share our knowledge, and have a great year together!
