Kati Flynn Torello has been on the Board of New Roots Charter School since 2012 and has served as Board Treasurer since 2014. An accountant for over 30 years; Kati has a wide range of experience in multiple industries, including non-profit and for-profit organizations as well as a Public Accounting background. Currently, she works for Sciarabba Walker & Co., LLP as well as running her own Bookkeeping and Tax practice.
Kati has always been interested in education and learning and strongly believes that educational programming should bend to the needs of the student; rather than the student having to change to fit within a predetermined educational program. She was lucky enough to have parents and administrators in her high school years who “flexed” the existing system a little to allow her to get the education she wanted. Kati believes that flexibility allowed her to develop the skills and knowledge that are the cornerstones of her success.
Kati has been involved with New Roots since the day the doors opened in 2009. Her daughter was part of the first graduating class and has since graduated from college with two undergraduate degrees. Both of them firmly believe that New Roots Charter School was fundamental in her success.
