Dante Herbel, graduate of the New Roots Class of 2022, is currently a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo. He is pursuing a double major in Sustainability Studies and Adolescent Education, with a concentration in History.
Looking back on his years at New Roots, Dante reflected that the biggest benefit of his high school education was that it gave him “the confidence to try harder academically.” Dante also cited the courses he took for TC3 college credit during his junior and senior years at New Roots as being beneficial now that he is in college. “It also inspired one of my majors too, being a Sustainability Studies major,” Dante said. While at New Roots, he took advantage of several sustainability-oriented work and leadership opportunities, serving as an intern with the Department of Environmental Conservation in his senior year, and a leader in the school’s Youth Ecological Restoration Corps.
