Art Teacher (Middle and High School)

So, you’ve made it to my staff page for the fabulous New Roots Charter School. Thanks for taking the time to read more about me. I was born in New York, and spent the majority of my life in South Florida. I went to school at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where I graduated with a BA in Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management with a minor in Studio Arts: Mixed Media. I spent three years teaching high school art in Broward County, FL. After some incredible traveling and soul searching, I have found my way back to New York, and have spent the past two years in the Ithaca area. In my free time I can be found building computers, nerding out over art of all media, volunteering at WRFI, or Relishing In The Splendor (RITS-ing).

I am interested in doing what I can to facilitate a journey of creative self-discovery for my students. One of my main goals is to help students shift their mindsets to recognize, celebrate, and nurture the artist that is within each of them. When is the last time you thought of yourself as an artist?
