Special Education Teacher, Student Services Coordinator (MS)

Lauren joined the New Roots Community in Fall 2025. She serves as a Special Education Teacher and Student Services Coordinator for our new middle school program. After growing up in the Hudson Valley, Lauren has spent her adult life in Ithaca. For the last 15 years, she has been deeply rooted in our community’s public education as an educator, parent, advocate, and volunteer, always with an explicit focus on access, equity, and inclusion for students of all identities. Alongside her work in educational settings, Lauren has a varied background including survey and focus group design, data analysis, youth theatre, and advocacy for victims of sexual and domestic violence. Outside of school, Lauren enjoys spending time with her three children, Emma, Owen, and Savannah, reading, playing piano, playing board and card games, and hanging out with her two very fluffy cats, Rosie and Cosmo.
