ABOUT LIZ PURCELL
Humanities (MS)
Liz is a member of our new middle school team, primarily building and teaching ELA curriculum. She is originally from the Syracuse area, where she first gained her love for leadership and teaching. She went to Wells College in Aurora, NY, where she received a bachelor’s degree in history with concentrations in psychology and adolescent education. While at Wells, she had extensive experience in leadership and activism rooted in social reform, curriculum/program design, and sustainability. She is currently pursuing an MSEd and additional certification opportunities to continue her love for lifelong learning.
Naturally, she gravitates back to Cayuga Lake after her undergraduate work to be a part of the beautiful Ithaca community and wonderful team here at New Roots. Outside the classroom, you might find her cheering on the Buffalo Bills, watching the sunsets over the lake, spending time with her two dogs, River and Rocket or her cat Frankie. She is excited for the opportunity to make connections with staff and faculty, share silly moments with her middle schoolers, and have a great year kick-starting the New Roots Middle School Program.
