Science Teacher
I am an uprooted Michigan native, who was transplanted in Ithaca in 2016 with my partner and two children. I began college by studying Forest Conservation, but many odd bits of my past suddenly became “on-brand” when I took a Forest Entomology course, such as when I insisted on adding pollen sacs to my bee costume for Halloween in 5th grade. I didn’t want to stop learning about any of it, so I began a second degree and took the job that would set me on the path to teaching: hosting field trip groups at the MSU Bug House. Eventually I also earned my MA in Science Education and teaching certifications in Biology and General Science.
My interests are eclectic and constantly growing, but a deep love for science and nature is constant. Currently, I spend my time gardening, hiking with my family, learning Taekwondo, and reading.
At New Roots, I am excited to work with students to build connections between each other and all that we learn.
