ABOUT SARAH NICKERSON
Family & Community Engagement Specialist
Sarah joined the New Roots team as Family & Community Engagement Specialist in the Spring of 2026. She is also the parent of a current New Roots middle schooler. Sarah earned her BA in Professional Writing from SUNY Cortland and has over a decade of experience working with local nonprofits, supporting communications, community outreach, donor relations, event planning, and more. She loves engaging with families, students, and members of the greater Ithaca community.
Sarah is a lover of the arts and enjoys photography, drawing, and working with clay and natural materials. When she is not at work, she can be found exploring the Finger Lakes with her son. She enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, and visiting local businesses and eateries.
