Science Teacher

My name is Nicole Sly, and I am from Boston, Massachusetts where I was teaching chemistry and environmental science at an independent school. I am excited to bring my scientific passions to the New Roots community! I earned a B.S. in Chemistry and a B.A. in Secondary Education from Boston College and an M.A. in Curriculum & Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. These experiences have prepared me to create a classroom environment that connects strongly to students’ lived experiences and interests. Through this, students will be able to see and become an active participant in the science that surrounds them every day. I hope to facilitate all students in seeing themselves in science and as someone who can do science no matter their personal identities. In addition to teaching, my passions include hiking, art, reading, and video games. I’m always looking for ways to get outside and learn more about the environment!
