Lead Learning Specialist
Stephan Hernandez is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. He came to the United States to pursue a Bachelors Degree in Music at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. He graduated from Eastman in 2016 and began teaching in Brownsville, Brooklyn where he spent the formative parts of his teaching career. Stephan has dedicated six years as a lead classroom teacher with experience teaching from grades 4-8th grade. In previous Charter School Networks, Mr. Hernandez classrooms have found much success having some of the highest scores in Math and ELA with 75% average. Stephan believes strongly in closing the achievement gap and making education more accessible for all students with emphasis on black and brown students. Stephan alongside his wife owns and runs a non-for profit Christian based organization where they Pastor a small but growing congregation in Rochester New York. They have successfully led many community based programs that have helped to bridge gaps within the Rochester community . One of Stephan’s governing principles is to be the change you want to see in the world. Stephan’s work in the classroom has been to make the educational experience equitable for all his students.
