Women’s March Youth EMPOWER invited school communities across the United States to take part in a National School Walkout for 17 minutes from 10:00 – 10:17a across every time zone on March 14, 2018, honoring the precious lives that were recently lost at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
New Roots empowers students to find their voice for a sustainable future. Our vision is to empower young people as citizens and entrepreneurs that create just and democratic communities. School administration and Student Council supported the democratic process of all students as they expressed their feelings about school safety throughout our national community. On Wednesday, 95% of our students demonstrated their support for the National School Walkout by listening to speakers on the front steps of the Clinton House, while others demonstrated their opinions independently. The common theme amongst all students, teachers, and administration is that New Roots stands united with the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, and the importance of school safety for students everywhere. #Enough
