Raised on Long Island, my college and work experience took me on an ever-expanding trajectory, first to Ithaca, then to the West Coast, then to the other side of the globe where I spent 20 years teaching, training teachers, and leading international programs in Japan. My lifelong interests in literature, the environment, international cooperation, and justice allow me to contribute to New Roots in various ways. Underpinning all of this is what I believe to be the primary purpose of education: student empowerment. It is deeply satisfying to be a part of a program where my colleagues and I share the same vision for and focus on our students. I am thrilled to be a teacher at New Roots as well as a resident in this creative and family-friendly Ithaca community.
