Chairman of Facilities Task Force
Conrad Metcalfe is the Executive Director of the Building Performance Contractors Association; a 12-year old non-profit trade association whose members are primarily energy efficiency contracting companies, building science consultants, and Energy Star raters. BPCA is focused on building up the marketplace and the businesses of our members through market transformation for energy efficiency services. Within this context, it functions as an educational organization – specifically addressing advanced topics on energy efficiency diagnostics, deep retrofits, and building performance.
Conrad spent almost 15 years living in an old-order Amish community to experience sustainability first-hand. He and his wife lived for the first couple years just like the Amish neighbors before putting in solar and wind power – remaining off the grid, but with all modern conveniences. During this period, he developed curriculum for Cisco Systems on the west coast and several large insurance companies on the east coast. He moved to Ithaca 15+ years ago to become VP of Operations and Training for Performance Systems Development; a consulting company that implements energy efficiency programs and develops energy modeling software with a national footprint. Conrad received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. He frequently presents at conferences to promote sustainability and energy efficient building practices.
