Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Growing up in Maine involved a lot of cross-country skiing and trail running. I came to Ithaca for college but decided to call it home as I loved the outdoors and the open, creative community of people living here. I obtained a bachelor’s in Therapeutic Recreation at Ithaca College and worked in a variety of local Human Service settings before getting my master’s in Social Work from Marywood University in 2004. Since then I have mainly worked as a social worker in school settings. In my free time I enjoy paddling, hiking, and carpentry. I am a Board Member at Namgyal Monastery.

I enjoy helping youth and young adults explore their interests and growing independence. My work also includes helping people with problem-solving and managing stress or coping with difficult situations. My focus at New Roots is to support students psychologically so that they can meet their academic demands and take advantage of social opportunities. The vibrancy of the school and caring evidenced by teachers and administrators are as amazing as the school’s dynamic mission of environmental responsibility and social justice!
