Director of Community Engagement & Cofounder of YEM

Michael is a 4th generation Ithacan and lifelong local enthusiast. His family immigrated to Ithaca from Italy in the early 1900’s and started several local businesses, including an Italian bakery, which we know today as the Ithaca Bakery. After 18 years in Ithaca, Michael studied business and marketing in both Vermont and California, leading to 15+ years in marketing and business development in the healthcare technology market. Michael moved his family back to Ithaca in 2009 so his wife and two daughters could experience the quality of life in the Finger Lakes. Michael is a co-founder of the youth entrepreneurship program, YEM, designed to empower local youth (grades 4-12) to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking. He is also a co-founder and director of Ithaca Reggae Fest, dedicated to the protection of Cayuga Lake. Michael’s passion for community led him to New Roots in 2017.
